Bitch Beer: Can you tell me a little bit about Shannon Brewing’s philosophy and the journey of starting it?

Shannon Carter: Our brewery’s philosophy can be summed up in one word: wholesome. This word drives our brewing process, ingredient supply, and brewery operations. We are passionate about great beer—all natural, beautiful, wholesome, easy-drinking beer! Our beer is brewed with pure spring water and non-GMO grain using our unique fire-brewed system. Moo0p.St.58A new beer brewery is in the works in Keller will be the seventh brewery in Metroplex, but it will have an ingredient that will give a distinctly Keller flavor. Keller City Council approved the plans for Shannon Brewery coming to North Main Street on the grounds of Samantha Springs. The brewery will use the springs’ natural water as part of its recipe, owner Shannon Carter said. (more…)

KELLER — City Council recently approved an economic development agreement for a craft brewery to be built at 818 N. Main St. in Keller.

Property owner Joe McCombs will lease the land to Shannon Brewing Co., which plans to build a craft brewery production facility. The brewery will share 20 acres of land with McCombs’ business, Samantha Springs, a water delivery service company that bottles part of the 200,000 gallons of water a day produced by the spring.

Sales and volume up double-digits in first six months of 2013

Brewery-Growth-Mid-2013The steady and sustained growth of American craft brewing continued during the first half of 2013, according to mid-year data released by the Brewers Association (BA). The not-for-profit trade association, which represents the majority of U.S. breweries, announced that during the first six months of 2013, American craft beer dollar sales and volume were up 15 percent and 13 percent, respectively. Over the same period last year, dollar sales jumped 14 percent and volume increased 12 percent.

It’s bottoms up for craft beer brewers in Texas after the House passed a package of bills Monday to help create a more robust craft beer marketplace.

Four bills filed by State Sen. Kevin Eltife, R-Tyler, were passed: Senate Bill 515, SB 516, SB 517 and SB 518. SB 639, filed by State Sen. John Carona, R-Dallas, also passed. The bills collectively provide a new approach to help grow the expanding craft beer industry and update several business practices and regulatory issues in the Alcoholic Beverage Code, according to the Beer Alliance of Texas.
