KELLER — City Council recently approved an economic development agreement for a craft brewery to be built at 818 N. Main St. in Keller.

Property owner Joe McCombs will lease the land to Shannon Brewing Co., which plans to build a craft brewery production facility. The brewery will share 20 acres of land with McCombs’ business, Samantha Springs, a water delivery service company that bottles part of the 200,000 gallons of water a day produced by the spring.

The brewery’s owner, Southlake resident Shannon Carter, said the beer will be brewed with Samantha Springs water. “It will come straight from the spring, through our filtering system, right into our brewing tanks,” Carter said. “No chlorine, fluoride or any other treatments…just pure spring water.”

Carter said the 20 acres of land will allow for future expansion and provide enough space for events and parking. The brewery will include an indoor tasting room, a 2,500-square-foot outdoor beer garden and a “green area” to grow fresh hops for seasonal brews. “This all began with a love of home-brewing,” he said. Carter started brewing beer about 10 years ago and spent the past five years on brand management and developing his recipes, which are inspired by his ancestor’s home-brew made in Ireland in the 1800s.

The development incentives approved by the city include waivers of the building permit fees; reimbursement of city impact fees; labor, equipment and materials for a water line extension; and upgrade and installation of a new fire hydrant.

The business will open next spring.

“This will be an exciting project for Keller,” said Mayor Pat McGrail, during an Aug. 20 pre-council meeting. “Especially the Old Town area.”
